Jabez’s prayer (1 Chronicles 4:10)

When the author of Chronicles conscientiously provides us with the list of the descendants of Judah, he cannot help but stop. In the midst of all these names, he comes to Jabez, a man he wants to point out to us, a man of honor.

If you have ever felt like you caused pain or if you’ve ever wanted to believe that God can do more than you can ask or imagine, this prayer is for you:

Jabez cried out to the God of Israel:
‘Oh, bless me and enlarge my territory!
May your hand be with me, and may it protect me from harm, so that I do not have to suffer ”.
And God granted his request. “

David’s prayer for deliverance – Psalm 3

This choice was difficult, because the Psalms of David are filled with cries and petitions.

If you want an introduction to prayer, you can’t go wrong with this book of wisdom. Corn we chose Psalm 3 because it paints a concise picture of the call to God in the midst of great stress. David’s words are no less relevant to our modern workplace and way of life than they were to his battles:

Lord, how many are my enemies!
How many rise up against me! Many say about me:
“God will not deliver him. But you, Lord,
you are a shield around me, my glory, the one who lifts my head.
I cry to the Lord, and he answers me from his holy mountain.
I go to bed and fall asleep; I wake up because the Lord sustains me.
And I fear nothing, even if tens of thousands
people are attacking me from all sides. Arise, Lord!
Deliver me, my God! Strike all my enemies in the jaw,
breaks the teeth of the wicked. It is from the Lord that deliverance comes.
May your blessing be upon your people.
